I try to run multiple times a week. I am not training for any specific event or race, but I find running to be a great to way stay in shape and burn some calories. I really vary my distances up. However, I usually stick between just a few miles and at most 8 miles.
After a run, it is important to replace the essential things your body needs such as water, carbs, protein, and other nutrients. Based on these needs, I came up with a whey protein shake recipe that is great for after my runs. For this recipe, you will need a blender for this to work.
Protein Shake Ingredients
- 2-3 Scoops EAS 100% Whey Protein – Chocolate or Vanilla
- 10-16 ounces of water
- 1 Banana
- 1 Cup Frozen Strawberries
- 1 Tablespoon of Flax Seed Oil
- Ice (Optional)
The directions are super simple. You simply combine all of the ingredients in a blender and then blend it until the ice, banana, and strawberries are mixed in.
In my opinion, this protein shake recipe tastes great with either a chocolate or vanilla protein powder. I will often use this as a meal replacement since I often due my runs around lunch time. The EAS Protein Powder is a great all-around protein and is very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend it. However, feel free to experiment with other protein powders. The banana, strawberries, and sugars from the protein powder help to replenish the carbs your body needs right after a run. The flax seed oil helps you to get a healthy fat into your body as well. Overall, this is a go to protein shake for me and I would highly recommend this recipe.
